I turn a corner and find a new laneway I've never seen before...
coffee connoisseurs on stools line the funky cafes,
trendsetters, buskers & backpackers spill into the streets,
the smell of woodfire pizza drifts across the rooftops,
there is the hum of music from a retro boutique...
the brick lane is old and dark
what stories must these bricks hold of days gone by...
I see a girl, crouching infront of the brick
she has a pink mohawk, ripped jeans,
she has her stencils, cans all laid out,
she cleans the first layer of grime from the wall and begins to spray,
the smell of aerosol drifts down the lane,
the walls seem to become brighter,
everywhere i look they come alive,
with art!
Then i walk,
i turn a corner and find a new laneway i've never seen before.....

TRAMS
Wires crackling
Steel wheels clattering
rail tracks trembling
trams
latte clutching
ipod touching
mx reading
Shoulders touching
handbag clutching
armpits, bad breath
trams
junkies yelling
Big issues selling
trams
fashionable young punks
dishevelled old drunks
mums and babies and prams
high heel boots
strong perfume and bruts
trams
TRAMS #2
Grey dusk shrowds the urban jungle
a throng of corporate cockroaches swarm
wriggling writhing, pushing
each with a purpose of their own
Trams come clattering, wires splattering
Rattling down the track of old collins
Constant bustle, a sea of faces peering back, or out the window
As day turns to night in the urban jungle
